A PG-13 play about the Nativity

Does your church or theater group have an interest in reaching out to the community with a thoughtful, yet uncomfortably relevant perspective on the Nativity? Jesus’ mother Mary’s un- asked-for pregnancy was most certainly a challenge to her faith and her community. The play, Contemporary Christmas, explores Mary’s situation, juxtaposed with a modern-day unplanned pregnancy. Hence, the “PG-13” clarification. Rather than giving a binary value statement on how the contemporary teen should handle her unplanned pregnancy, the story focuses on explaining personal faith in Christ and inviting God to be involved in guiding both the everyday and the unexpected issues of our lives.
