Good Plans
I know God has good plans for you
I know not when nor where,
But, when the fog has cleared away,
God’s handprints will be there.
He has “prepared good works” for you ¹
To walk in them, I know—
Why else would He give you His gifts, ²
Unless they’re meant to show?
The hard part is the waiting, ‘til
The “next right step” is clear—
Not running ahead in darkness, nor
Indulging rebellion or fear.
I know God has good plans for you,
Because our God is good, ³
Patient, kind, compassionate. ⁴
He loves like a good Father would.

Someone reading this poem might say, “That’s nice you think God has good plans for me, but how am I supposed to find them?” The first step is to trust in Jesus as your Savior (See John chapter 3, and Ephesians 2:8-10). The second step is to pray and ask God to lead you. Ask, “What would you like for me to do?” The third step, once you have an idea about what God’s plan may be, and you know it is not illegal or contradictory to a Christian lifestyle, is to take a step in that direction. God will usually let you know somehow when you’re on the right path. Then take the next step and be watching for confirmation or re-direction.
