Thy Will Be Done
(a song)
In my life may others see—
The light of Christ shining bright in me.
Thy will be done, thy will be done.
“Not mine own, but Thine be done.” ¹
Thy will be done, thy will be done.
My desire is that You glorify Your Son.
Work Your will into where I go—
What I think or say, and the deeds that show.
Thy will be done, thy will be done.
“Not mine own, but Thine be done.” ¹
Thy will be done, thy will be done.
My desire is that You glorify Your Son.
When my heart disappointment sees,
May I mean these words while I’m on my knees:
Thy will be done, thy will be done.
“Not mine own, but Thine be done.” ¹
Thy will be done, thy will be done.
My desire is that You glorify Your Son.
As my life goes from “dust to dust,”
May my honest thoughts show undying trust.
Thy will be done, thy will be done.
“Not mine own, but Thine be done.” ¹
Thy will be done, thy will be done.
My desire is that You glorify Your Son.
Matthew 26:39

I wasn’t sure what comment to write on this poem until I thought about the fact that I had spent way more time on social media than I needed to today. Actually, the same thing happened yesterday. Sigh.
Facilitating God’s will being done in my daily life is not only dependent upon doing certain activities that are wise or helpful. Nor is it only about trusting God in trials and disappointments. It also requires my active involvement in not doing certain things, in order to make wiser choices about how to best use the time God has given me.
